Dashing officers in mess jackets?
« on: November 15, 2013, 09:49:08 PM »
Which such miniatures are we aware of?

I know Pulp Figures has a few, like a British Navy officer in whites and a pipe smoking senior officer in red.

Civilians there are a few of but I am especially looking for pilot in something dashing to put in a party scene.

Suggestions?

Pulp Figures, a pipe smoking senior officer in red.

I don't see why this one shouldn't work if painted like this, which is RAF mess jacket...

Peder, the Warlords RAF pilot may fit the bill if you remove his right hand with weapon and place a hand holding bottle or something similar.

Cheers,

Chota Sahib in the 70s and 80s did a wonderfully full line of mess jacket type minis but only in 54mm...I always wished they could have been transferred to 28mm....

on a more self-made concept, the new ACW artillery that Perry will hopefully release soon look very much like the old traditional mess dress style with short shell jacket and straight pants with shoes. The missing thing would be the lapels, if such modern fashion is required in Your setting

This is the RAFM link, looks like a very nice figure:

Splendid. That's the one. I'd like to create something like what you see in the very beginning of 'High Road to China'.

Unfortunately there are not enough officers in mess jackets and not even enough officers in uniforms suitable for social events.
A couple of Arizan figures may fit the bill.
One possible figure is Major Cadd (PLP010) holding a cigar and PLP165 General Clearwell. Both painted in RAF blue might fit in your settine. (and ATS Sally, too. Her hat is suitable for WAAF).

As a second a couple of the Ebobs POWs might also be used. I think the most suitable is the middle figure from pack "dispersal penguins"

Possibly, but standing there with your hands in your pocket (as one of the minis does) is a bit caddish when ladies are present (which there will be).
