Will we get to see the minis before then?!  :D

Will there be any other minis? I know we saw a couple hints of coming attractions ("Minerva" and another one), but will they be previewed by or on Monday too?

That's all for now -- Lillie, Phantom Ace, and Pulp Girl.

The next two Pulp Alley minis will be Minerva and Captain Wolf, but I don't expect them to be available for another 2 months.

I do believe Andrew is releasing a few other figures around the same time. Some crazed Loonies and such.

HAVE FUN

D'oh... the Minerva figure previewed on the card looked like it might be absolutely perfect for a figure in one of my main leagues. Guess I'll have to wait a bit longer to see!

Here's a wee video I put together showing Pulp Girl and Phantom Ace in all their 360 degree glory:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cs0QTZ9a-Qo&feature=youtu.be

The 'music' is a tad sinister (I used the same on my Statuesque Asylum video) so if anyone wants to compose me a piece of background pulpy sounds I can pay you in metal!  lol

I think someone mentioned earlier that these were the first digital sculpts they'd ever liked; I think that might be because they have a lot of character, which I feel (just my opinion) is lacking in a lot of digital sculpts.

Thanks! I do find it strange that a lot of digital sculpts have such blank faces, since it's reeeeeaaally easy to go to town on expressions as you're not working with putty and needles and can zoom right in there. You've also got to exaggerate an expression on screen for it even to show on a print. A subtle expression become pretty blank once it's miniaturized. My theory is that a lot of digital sculptors who are working for miniatures don't sculpt the faces themselves...  :-X

I think a lot of character in the rest of a figure is lost because many digital sculptors sculpt everything on an unposed figure and then jimmy it into a pose. The poses are usually pretty flaccid (because extension in the pose would be awkward if all your details are already sculpted) and the folds don't make sense. I like to do as little as possible unposed and largely work as I would have sculpting traditionally.

Anyways, here's a comparison shot I just took:

L-R: Statuesque Sci-fi, Crooked Dice, Statuesque Asylum Pulp, Copplestone, Pulp Alley, Copplestone, Pulp Alley, Copplestone, Statuesque Asylum Pulp, Hasslefree. Note that both Phantom Ace and the Copplestone Detective are both pretty big guys not to be messed with in a dark alley! :)

There's a bigger version of the same picture HERE.

I personally think you're doing a fantastic job with the digital sculpting, you've got to be pleased with how they turned out. They look 'traditionally sculpted', and that's a good thing :)
