I'm assuming the RT rpg isn't all gothic etc?

cheers

James

Uhhh... actually it kinda is.  lol

It's a game where the players are a Rogue Trader and his senior crew, rather than a game set in the Rogue Trader 1st Edition setting. All the fluff is of the modern variety, which I happen to rather like.

Nice job on painting your zoats.

I had a complete set when I was a kid, but they went to the jumble sale at some point :-(

If I remember right those models were originally designed to go with the RT concept of zoats, so that weapon is a bio-bolter. Then later, about WD130ish they invented the fleshborer and for convenience it took the form of the bio-bolter they had already sculpted. So your way of interpreting them is basically what the sculptor had in mind.

I am still in two minds whether I am prepared to abandon the dogma that genestealers originated from the moon of Ymgarl.
:-)

Had not realised before how similar the hunter-slayers look to a mini proto-tyranid. Cute litttle chaps.

In Rogue Trader everything had bolters, but the looks of bolters (or other weapons) could have many forms, so I think of it like a type of weapon which can come in many forms rather than a single model of weapon.

So even though a Zoat, Space Marine, Ork or whatever can have a bolter, it might be the same model, but could just as well be a completely different weapon just with same type of ammo and stats.

It makes it kind of more easy to have a few weapons to chose from instead of inventing different stats for every race, faction and character class.

40k isn't so much overdone gothic as way-overdone baroque.

@Plynkes: Take a photo of your guy...

To my dismay I have been unable to locate him. Just spent a while digging through my old stuff and no joy. Oh well.

Just out of interest, how did you guys pronounce the word Zoat? Does it rhyme with 'goat' or 'Croat?' We always went for the former, though on reflection I think the latter would sound more 'spacey.'

Did someone say Zoats?

Love your PJ Jonas, I had a pile of those little tyranids, gave them to a mate years ago

The shocking pink isn't as shocking in real life, its more fleshy coloured.
Thanks!
I've got a load of the plastic Tyranids to paint but I really can't decide on a scheme at all. If I mess up the 'Nids I don't fancy having to re-strip them. Worst figures to clean ever.

I have genestealers and Hybrids to pull together at some stage as well

You've got a surprisingly pink fleshborer there, Stedley.
