Jet Simian's Lead Time Lords - Cinema Doctor update
« on: December 01, 2013, 12:16:29 AM »
Hi everyone

I know Doctors Who have been a little thicker on the ground here of late, but for anyone interested. I've begun my new seasonal project over on my blog, and as promised, it's Who-related.

Here's my first entry - a few modifications have been made plus a bespoke base:

As usual, there's a little more description and more imagery over on Jetsam: http://jetsimian.blogspot.co.nz/2013/11/lead-time-lords-eighth-doctor.html

Nicely painted there; not really a fan of the massive head, but the painting is well done which is the main thing. :)

INVISIBL WALKING STICK

OK, maybe that was a bit snarky... But it is an odd sculpt.  As I commented on your blog I think you did a good job "redeeming" it.

Ah - the penny drops! Thanks :)

Yes now you mention it, it does look a little like he's... putting on his top hat, tying on his white tie, brushing off his tails  ::)

Personally, I think the hand positioning is a bit of a cheat. Harlequin do it on, ooh - at least four Doctors (not counting Old Sixie's lapel grabbing pose). I understand if it's an issue of miniature integrity or stability or something, but it's not naturalistic, particularly with those giant mitts of his.

Dammit, now I'm reading your post in his voice :)

Well, their strength is thoroughness, not exceptional quality, after all.

Running a little later than hoped, but here's the latest off the painting line. Ooh, that pose looks very wonky from some angles:

More detail over on the blog as usual. And apologies for the photo quality - I think this is a clear case of having to go back and take better shots later!

Well after two regenerations, you can definitely say that Doctor is "stayin' alive"...

Yeah. Can't you just tell by the way he walks that he's a woman's man, no time to talk?  ::)

Great job again particularly with the pants, I'm dreading doing this on my Doctors.

nicely nicely... good work there, eyes are bit glow in the dark, try some flesh wash or whatever is passing for sepia now, that should tone them down.

The eyes do look a bit odd, but perfect too. The side-long glance gives the figure a strange, untrustworthy look that looks good on William Hartnell. That miniature is up to something.
