Secrets of the Third Reich Rule Book
« on: June 01, 2008, 01:28:51 PM »
I picked up a copy of the SOTR rulebook at the UK Games Expo.

First impressions.......WOW!

It is 160 pages packed with Background material, photos, artwork, examples of play etc. It is well laid out and easy to read. It contains OOB for USA, Brits, German and Soviet forces with stacks of unit variations, weapons and mechs. It has also got rules for building your own mechs!!!!

I've only worked my way through some of it but I'll post more details when I get chance.

Regards

Same here PM. Not really sat down and gone through it cover to cover yet, more stealing glances every now and then, but been impressed so far. The rulebook I last bought before this one was for Infinity, and that was very glossy and in full colour. That really worked for that particular game (future sci-fi), but I think the black and white style of the 'Secrets' book is very much in keeping with the setting, and gets the 'mood' right. I still noticed though, even from just flicking through, that nearly every page seems to have something to look at other than text, such as artwork, propoganda posters, miniatures etc.

Sounds like good stuff! I pre-ordered mine a couple of weeks ago, I'm hoping it will turn up in the post early this week.

(with promotional free vampire mini- kind of a shame considering I've just finished sculpting my second Nazi Vampire, and here they are giving them away!)

Just received mine as well. Simply outstanding! The best rulebook I've seen in many years.

I have the book and the vampire mini. My first impressions of the book are that it is a first class piece of work. I have  a few days off next week and plan to study it in detail. The vampire is also very fine. This is actually the first figure I have seen close-up in this range but I have  a number of other west wind figs and it seems slightly larger (which is good). I shall be planning a platoon for certain, (probably germans I think)

Cheers for the info on the book,i am gonna get this myself.I think its brilliant stuff and makes all that time playing "Return to Castle wolfenstein" worth it.:)

Somehow the idea of "Dark mechanical russians" seems really exciting:)
