Gaming table
« on: December 05, 2013, 09:56:13 AM »
Hello
I want to build a dedicated wargaming table for my TSS terrain boards.
I am thinking about a possibility to store the boards under the actual table top. I have`nt drawn any plans jet.
Any suggestions for a lay out are there any plans or pictures online of dedicatet wargaming tables?

You should be able to find lots of pictures online. Measure your TSS boards and put either shelves or brackets under the table for storage.

One thing about storing terrain boards under the table is that they need to be protected from stray feet and knees, either with a door or by being significantly smaller than the board above. Under a 4'x 8' table I would not store boards more than 2' wide without a cabinet door for example.

Table height is also a big issue and there is no right answer. I see most between 32" and 48", it just depends on your own height and play style. The big thing is experiment - try a temporary table at different heights and see how it feels.

re heights of tables - unless you want to sit when you play NEVER use a standard table height.

A better option is the height of your kitchen worktops or higher. This also gives the advantage of more styorage room underneath.

Thanks for the help. I thought about the hight too at the moment I would like to do a hight like kitchenworktops as you might be able to use bar chairs the if seating is needed. Doors should be used as well for protection I will draw plans over the x mas holls and post them here.

I've built a few tables using old kitchen cupboards, it's one of the best ways to do it. The height is good and it gives instant protected storage, plus they can be picked up for very little cash.
So many projects..... so little time.......

Dave Bickley's table sits on a load of old civil service metal drawer units, so solid with plenty of storage.
