The
background for my campaign which begins in 1937 after FDR's second election. The crises is precipitated by FDR's proposed "court packing" legislation and other New Deal programs.
As the crisis begins to unfold, a company of Black Legion shock troops are dispatched on Ford tri-motor planes from Michigan to Tulsa Oklahoma. Their objective is to capture the Glenpool oil field and associated refinery. Unfortunately the Tulsa airfield is located on the northeastern edge of town, and the Glenpool oil field is southwest of Tulsa just across the Arkansas river. So the Legion troops will have to take the airfield and then find their way through possibly hostile territory to take the objective. They do have some local contacts in the area to act as guides and supply them with some supplies and equipment.
After the first two planes land and the airport is secured, one squad is sent ahead to scout out the route to the refinery in a captured airfield truck. After they depart, the local communist forces are tipped off and are able to set up an ambush for the Black Legion on the crossroads of
31st and SheridanTrees being a scarce resource in these parts, the local communist forces had to improvise a barricade to stop the Black Legion truck. They stopped the truck, but they certainly didn't make nice with the local farmers livestock.
The local chaps and the Black Legion get out of the truck to check things out, just before the firing begins.
