I would suggest getting the following book. full of info on Loyalist troops. highly recommended: http://www.amazon.com/Illustrated-History-Uniforms-1775-1783-Revolutionary/dp/075481761X

You might also try the Osprey on Loyalists

Lots of good ideas in there

I have both books. If I can find back your email adress, I'll try to answer you.
From memories, it seems that most tories units wore red with green facings but there are a huge choice of uniforms. I suppose you would like to use PERRY plastic figures te represent this unit ?
"The enemy? His sense of duty was no less than yours, I deem. You wonder what his name is, where he came from. And if he was really evil at heart. What lies or threats led him on this long march from home. If he would not rather have stayed there ... in peace. War will make corpses of us all."

So, if you plan to use PERRY plastic figures, you can build (at least) two units:
- King's American regiment (4th American regiment) in red coat with green facings
- British Legion (5th American regiment) in blue coat with red facings

PERRY also produce metal figures for the "Volunteers of ireland" and a regiment of freed slaves which fought on the british side.
No idea what the flags of these regiments looked like, alas  :(

The Loyalist troops were originally to be raised with green uniforms, and some of the units were so uniformed in the early part of the war. Facings referred to include red, orange and white.
Re Colours the only easily referenced colours are for the Queen's Rangers. In Terrence Wise's Flags Of The World the King's colour is shown  as The Union Flag and in the Centre a red shield with a stylised yellow border within in yellow the words;
                     QUEENS
                    RANGERS
                       1ST
                      AMERN

Above the shield a crown and around the other three sides a wreath of roses and thistles.
The regimental colour is shown in John Mollo's Uniforms of the American revolution and has a dark green field with a Union flag in the upper left canton. The central decoration is as per the king's colour crowned and wreathed red shield with yellow border and same wording in yellow.
I believe that most loyalist units who could would have similar design of flags, i.e. very close to those used by the regular regiments. I also think with no proof that home made colours would have been prepared for some units by officer's wives and loved ones etc. So certainly early in the war non regulation colours would be seen.  Wording on these colours may have identified location of unit's origin and/or some wording that would have referred to the unit being Loyal and True.

Hi Fred

I agree with Moonshadow

Furthermore do not forget most loyalists were equipped like insurgents: so civilian garments and hunting shirts: Perrys' are wonderful and you have the partly uniformed militia from Foundry that can fit.

Cheers

Franck

Somebody would have a more precise image of this flag. And if you have other sources do not hesitate.
Good Christmas and new Year holidays.

bye
