We did a 'AWI' game this year, which was alot of throwing what we had on the table! So Purists may not be happy, but we had fun!
A close run thing... The British managed to destroy the American half of the army, but at such loss they would have been easy meat for the largely fresh French army. An honourable draw was called, though had it gone on, the French would likely have seen off the remaining British, Loyalist and Hessian troops.
We used
Maurice with my AWI adaptations and played 200 points aside.
A few piccies from the first hamfisted efforts with the new camera...
The armies before deployment;
French Guns that would pour canister into the Hessian attack and break them...
American Rifles in the woods...
The British advance...
The Grand Old Hessian Duke, he marched his men up the top of the hill... and got shot to pieces!
The damn rebel Militia who somehow held off all the British elite troops!
The Loyalist Brigade who never got into the action...
French meet Hessians in a fight to control the village...
The main British attack on the Continental lines at Church Hill...
