Figure Compatability - AWI and FIW
« on: 31 December 2013, 08:36:37 PM »
I'm intending to dip the proverbial toe into the AWI, and hoping to use some of the same figures for FIW.  Any ideas as to how Perry, Fife and Drum, Galloping Major and anyone else not mentioned in 28mm (ish) scale up to one another?

I already have some Fife and Drum (very nice they are too) but I'm hoping I'll be able to add to them using other manufacturers.

Thanks

Except for Indians, they are as different as, for instance, French Revolution wars compared to post-1806 Napoleonic wars; or Early WWI compared to  Early WWII. So if accuracy is an issue, you can't mix up these ranges. Otherwise, enjoy playing with proxies. Fife and Drum are anatomically accurate and slim, Perry a bit smaller and stocky, Galloping Major a bit taller than Perry, and a bit stockier too. There are also Conquest (on the smaller side) and Redoubt (on the taller side).

Canadian Militia and Courer des Bois are quite nice for frontier theatre in AWI for both sides. Rangers are also acceptable for this; not strictly uniformed irregulars.
Regular infantry is different and shouldn't be used together.

Our group will use new Northstar Higlanders also during AWI. Half of them are in Indian trousers and unregular coats, so in our opinion fit nicely for an unit with lack of proper supplies and for frontier combat.

I can live with the uniform inaccuracies, no-one in my group has any figures, nor interest in either period.  It's the figure size that is more of an issue.
