Viking warband
« on: January 01, 2014, 12:30:58 PM »
Hello all,

Here's the first four points of my Saga viking warband, mostly built from Gripping Beast figures with a few Foundry extras. I am hoping to expand it further in the near future.

Lovely - I really, really like these. The colours are very naturalistic, and I especially admire your work on the shields. Fantastic start to the new year and I look forward to seeing the next few points!

I have to agree with the comments about the shields - excellent work. But, the faces are just as good - loads of character.

Ahhhh, rough hewn and battle-ready, just the way I like Vikings.

Outstanding paint and brush control.

Superb shields.

I like your work on their faces.

Kudos!

I never really liked the GB sculpts that much and spent a long time looking at alternatives. In the end I think these Drabant Miniatures are about the best available to my eyes. If you like your sculpts tending towards the more realistic end of the spectrum then these could be for you. Nice big shields too so you can practise your freehand.

Beautifully painted, with a lot of time and effort has been well rewarded.

I like those Drabant minis, and you did a great work on them :)
May I ask where you bought them?

I'm in the UK and I bought them from Old Glory at a show, but they do also have a web store.

Ok, thanks.
Have checked their site once before, and again right now, but they have only the Anglo-Saxons listed.
Will send them a mail asking about the vikings  ;)

The muted colours are great, as are the shield designs.

It does look that way at first, but you can navigate between Anglo-Saxons, Vikings and Normans using the links in the pale blue box in the top left-hand corner.
