Copplestone guns
« on: June 06, 2008, 04:24:59 PM »
The Copplestone BoB range features three "field guns":

The russian ones seem to be identical. Are there any informations about these guns? Are they historical, standard guns?

Thanks for your info.

The russian ones are M.1902 field cannons 76mm, the chinese is the Krupp 77 mm one.

Sorry to be a pedant but whilst the first two are Putilov M1902 that otehr piece with the Chinese crew is most certainly not a FK 96 n.A, it's not even a recognisable Krupp piece.

Mr Swales who made all the lovely guns for Foundry and latterly Copplestone, was usually pretty accurate in his modelling. I think this is just a generic gun to give the Chinese soem support. Pity really as had he done a 75mm Krupp export piece he wouldhave scooped the pools for all manner of potential users, Turks, Chinese Japanese, Belgians etc etd.

I swapped my White field guns for Great War British 18pdrs as the Copplestone guns seem a little small to me  :?

no problems with pedants at all, they're useful :) actually it looks to me like a Krupp gun with a longer barrel but it's just my impression from that little pic, I dont owe that model and can't check it.

Maybe I'm wrong but I remember seeing a photo with a similar gun  in the China Civil war Osprey, unfortunately can't check it too, because I'm far far away from home :)
