1/72 HotT
« on: January 07, 2014, 11:36:46 PM »
Ages ago I put together some 1/72 fantasy armies, based for Hordes of the Things. I played a couple of games and then more or less forgot about them. Lately I've been dusting them off and playing again. I always forget to take photos during games, but tonight I remembered to take a few, so here they are.

A base of goblin Horde. 1/72 Caesar miniatures.

Goblin Beasts, Behemoth General and Behemoth. These are all plastic dinosaurs from a 10p bin at the Salvation Army. The general has a scratchbuilt howdah. My favourite part, although it's hard to see in the photo, is the little goblin prodding the non-General Behemoth along with a spear.

Vikings vs. Dinos! The enemy army's God (a 28mm Reaper viking) slugs it out with the Behemoths and Flyer support. Some Viking axemen are barely visible in the bottom of the shot; they're 1/72 Imex/Emhar Vikings and Saxons, and very nice they are too.

Anyone else do 1/72 fantasy? It seems like a developing field, but I get the impression it's still pretty rare.

Don't have an pictures but have been playing both Armies of Arcana and Kings of War with 1/72 fantasy and historical figures.

Really line his you can get big armies for a fraction of the price that the evil empire charges.

I have a box of the Orcs from the same range as your Goblins. Also got or had the dino that is attacking the God.It came from a museum years ago when I was a kid.Nice set of dinos that I will need to dig out now.

Great idea for using the 1/72nd scale for Hott games.

I have just been getting into 1/72 scale fantasy. The line is pretty good if one is willing to search for appropriate sized minis for the monsters.
The world is changing so fast and we,re just trying to catch up...
