Rogue Trooper Project update July 2017 NEW STUFF
« on: January 10, 2014, 08:26:06 AM »
Well, following the 'issues' discussed elsewhere i thought i'd start a new and start this rogue trooper project off cleanly. (Please keep those 'other' discussions out of this thread.

Been a massive Rogue fan for over a quarter of a century now! ( 8)) and have amassed these old citadel minis from various hauls etc over the years. Always wanted to do a little project with them so hey, why not?!?

(Couple of rogue trader heavy troopers snuck in bottom left, night have a use for them though, I have plenty :D).

;)

There were mercs and scavengers in RT, so they'll fit in.

I had a few of these back in the day (I used them as replacements for the little plastic figures GW provided in the RT boardgame).  I see you have all of them.  Traitor general, Morgen, Maj. Magnam, Venus, more GIs than survived the QZ massacre, and enough norts and southern troops to have a good go at each other.

Yup the whole limited range, wish they did more. I might make some 'bubble hab units'' so I can use unsuited RT IG as souther troopers, got a few of those too. Again there's a couple of further pirates that will make for nice GI specialists. More later.

Sacrilige aside I'll be converting a few too, Can only have one morgen, the other will get a slight resculpt in line with the rebellion game. Both will have an increase in barrel length on their sniper rifles.

(Just to say I've got a spare traitor general,  (minus tab) if anyone's interested also a lazooka Rogue, but will only swop that for another Rogue).

You will. ;)

Trying to find suitable chem suited troopers outside of the Rogue range, (was thinking Vor but would need serious resculpting) but still ok scale wise.

Anyway might have a go at the nort snipers later.

Cheers

Have you considered the Hasslefree Hazmat team (I assume you did, but just for completeness)? I'd assume they'd work next to 1980s Citadel figures, sizewise, and for Norts you could sand off the faceplate and replace it with ocular lenses.

There's also Copplestone's chem/bio troopers, here are mine:

They're a bit lightly equipped, but you could add backpacks etc. relatively easily.

Re hazmats generally. Yup hasslefree will be a bit too realistic re stature as the old citadel stuff is a little cartoony. Thought about the Copplestone and more so the E4M old grenadier lot. I've got some of those so will see how they look together.

Pig iron: yup known about them for quite a while, (resident fanboy) maybe inner guard heads? Might use kolony troops at some stage though.

Thanks all.

Found some of my posts from 2008 on this idea when RJ & Majorsmith were toying with the idea:

Nort troop types:

Chem-sisters
Dust Devils
EMP troops
Infantry
Kashan Legions (Nordland's Elite)
Kashar Legions (Nort warriors)
Lazooka troops
Mortar troops
Nagan Legions (Penal troops)
Navy Sergeant
Undercover Poison-Pollution Agents, known to the Southers as Filth Columnists
Sailors
Scum Legions (Formed by Admiral Torpitz and disbanded after the Fort Neuropa Campaign)
Scum Marines (Named after the Scum Sea)
Sergeants
Shotgun troops
Snipers
Space pirates
Sun Legions (Hang glider troops)
Stammel Riders
Vroogmen (Divers)
Snow troopers
Various Genetic Experiments

So plenty of scope for variety! ;)

What would the closest currently produced wargaming tank model for the Nort Skorpion?

Will look through my armour references later but if anyone's any ideas that would be great.

If you're in for a conversion, I'd suggest Imprint Models' 1/48 BMP-3, mated to 1/35 scale Panzer 38t running gear assemblies?
