Warlord Games WWII British Infantry - more added 07/06
« on: January 13, 2014, 06:35:49 PM »
I may have accidentally started a new project over the weekend.

I seem to have a thing about painting 28mm WWII British at the moment.

Not content with three British / Empire Rifle platoons for Burma 45 and three British / Empire Rifle platoons for East Africa 41, I have now started a British Rifle platoon for North-West Europe 44 using the Warlord Games figures.

Now there are some pro's and cons to this. The figures are a pain in the arse to assemble and look bloody awful before they are painted, but, they paint up really easily and look quite good when they are finished.

Really good work on those - the figures ARE awful, but you have really put some lipstick on the pig! Polished those turds!

I've got a big box set of Japanese by Warlord.  I regularly get my glue and filler out, open the box, look at the number of parts in horror, then put them back in the box and go for a lie down in a dark room.

That said, you've done a great job with those.

Well you sure seem to have perfected the recipe for Brits. Amazing job for only a few hours of painting!

Too bad that they are a pain to build. And I agree, the Perry Bros style of realistic proportions just looks so much better. Especially in close-ups.

You have done a great job on them, a very well polished turd indeed.

Great work on some...questionable figures (really can't stand most of the Warlord line of WW2 stuff).  Nice paintwork though!

Great painting.  I agree --- I'm in the process of assembling a bunch of Warlord Japanese infantry ... if I had an intern for wargaming that would be there task ... what a pain.

After painting the original box of 25 that I picked up I realised that I was going to need some more so picked up second hand a box that somebody had taken three out of and left the rest.

I still think that these take longer to build than to paint.

I painted a couple of boxes of the Warlord Games British back in January, but some bits & bobs I bought from Black Tree at the time have been looking accusingly at me from the pile of shame.

Over the last couple of weeks I speed painted them and polished off the bases yesterday evening so that they can join their comrades.
