Pulp Alley AAR - Town Ambush
« on: January 17, 2014, 01:35:44 AM »
A French military convoy has to deliver important rations and medical supplies to troops in the field.

Rebel fighters, having gained access to their plans, are already stationed to try and stop the convoy.

Troops pile out of the cramped quarters to protect the supplies with their lives.

The rebels take aim and fire, but the hispano-suiza is not affected.

The car fires back and takes out the gun crew in a deadly burst.

French Legionnaires advance and fire at the rebels with hot lead.

Rebels fire their pom-pom into the troops, taking two down.

The armored car opens fire on the pom-pom but had little effect.

The next nest fires at the hispano-suiza and damages it. Puffs of black smoke billow from the engine but the car keeps moving.

The armored car pulls up and shoots into the last rebel machine gun nest and eliminates two.

The rebels fire on the legionnaires and are taken out during the shooting.

The convoy escapes the town safely with the cargo intact. But will they make it any further?

I found this scenario really amusing. It definitely went in the legionnaires favor. They kept rolling a lot of reliability/health checks and stayed fairly unscathed while slaughtering the rebels. We’ll have to play again for a rematch. lol

Wow!

These really seem to be scaling up well for "full-size" combat.

Excellent, as always.

Very inspiring - so much detail to feast the eyes on: drum and crate barricades; that sensational armoured car; arched entry to the village square; market stalls (must have a go at making some of them); the pom-pom; and, most of all, the bullet proof black pig (gotta get one of those!).  ;)

Looks great! I'm assuming it was another scenario to play test the vehicles rules. How are things coming with them? Any snags? Or are they -- ahem -- rolling right along?

Oh, there are always snags. That's what keeps it interesting.

Writing rules is easy. It's writing rules that I'd actually want to play that's the tricky bit.  lol lol

I'm thinking that we'll be sending out a few bite-size chunks for some more playtesting if you're interested in trying some of the new rules?

What a fun skirmish!  The different MG nests is a neat twist.

Indeed! It's lots of fun throwing something crazy out there for extra thrills.  lol

These playtest games can be kinda one-sided sometimes, but we're really just seeing how the mechaincs play. In this case we wanted to see how the guns would do without any supporting infantry.

Those guns were throwing alot of firepower but the Hispano-Suiza just refused to stop rolling... and shooting.  ;D

A very interesting report, loved the guns and the armoured car. Is there nothing Pulp Alley can't do?  ;)

Thanks for the offer, Dave. Once Dakota Smith's story arc ends, the archeologists will have to head back to civilization. A car chase there would be perfect! It'll be a little while before they get there, though...

All of the car chases we've done hsve been really fun. One ended up with both cars breaking down and the drivers just getting out and shooting at each other lol
