Recently there has been some discussion as to ideas for steamtech for generic 'Eeastern' armies that could be used anywhere from the Balkans to the North West Frontier to the Sudan. Here are my first elements for such an army:

The Khazi's Guards:

Figures are 'Turks' from Warrior Miniatures' 'England Invaded' range.

The Automaton Master:

Automatom master is converted Steve Barber Models figure, automatons are converted Mageknight golems.

Looking good. Remarkably similar to what I had planned, even down to the figures. However for once I managed to put this one off and never bought the figures! They do look good though............ Bad Dave!
So many projects..... so little time.......

Looks excellent.
But does the automaton master need a slave walking along behind him with a cantilever tool box ?

Great idea. I have those golems and was wondering what to do with them. 8)

Obviously, the army of the Grand Turk will need a mechanical elephant:

There will be elephants! I just have to track down the right one to use as a base for the model.

Not sure yet. Lighter stuff will go on 'elephant' walkers, but there willl probably something very big that would fit in well with a traditional Turkish army.

May I suggest the Tiger Miniatures balkan wars turks?
specially  pack BWT 001 Turkish rediff (reservists).
Not very exotic in appeaance but suitable for the era (painted in blue uniform and red fez.

Also I suggest some bulgarian irregulars might be used.

Unfortunately the Tiger figures are really too big compared with Warrior's offerings. My Tiger US marines are definately 'heroic 28mm' (typically 30mm+ tall), whereas the Warrior figures are about 27mm tall. For 'Turkish' reservists I will therefore probably use 1880's Egyptian infantry or similar, who have very similar dress to the Turkish reservists.
