Is it easy to replace a gun?
« on: June 12, 2008, 03:00:50 PM »
I would like to replace the old west gun of the last miniature in this picture:

with alyx's gun

Is a simples cut & past job or is very difficult?
The Alyx's hand has quite the same size of Pinkerton one, do I cut the hand from Pinkerton miniature and repalce it with Alyx one or is better to cut the gun from Alyx hand and past it on Pinkerton one?

Sorry, my english is very little I hope somebody Can undertand my thinking!

Maybe is better to paint old west gun in black and considering it a modern gun ^__^

Given the choice I would replace the entire hand.

What he said.
As both figs have hands that are flush with the cuffs, sawing off the entire hand at the cuff should be both easy and a quite clean cut. You might then add a pin to the "arm stump" and drill a shallow hole into the hand, for added stability

What they said.  Replace the whole hand

Maybe is better to paint old west gun in black and considering it a modern gun

And or shorten the barrel so it looks like a snub-nosed .38.  Or lengthen the barrel so it's a .44 Magnum  :)

Replacing the gun looks easy in this case, but I'd consider changing the whole hand too.

Painting the revolver black will propably not do the job, but you could add a gun sight.
Far less active than I used to...

Remove both hands at the wrist. Drill holes in the replacement hand and arm and then pin the new hand in place. it looks like a straightforward job.

Better to do this than try and remove the guns.

Definitely replace the wjole hand. It is very hard to make the grip look right. There will however be a scale issue between the Artizan and the Hasslefree mini. The new hand will look big on Alyx and will need to be filed down. You may be able to pull off cutting the Glock off along the index finger on Alyx but I think the equivalent on the Pinkerton man will be tricky since there is the revolver magazine and hammer to consider.
