I’m so giddy I can share this update. I have been working on these buildings for quite some time and they cost me many hours to complete. But they were a ton of fun to do.
My mate Patrick Diederiks is the owner of Pats Laser Cuttings and he asked if I was interested in painting some buildings he designed for his Cyberpunk buildings. Of course! He cut the buildings in MDF and I received all 5. Fantastic designs, I really love the aesthetics and Pat always does a terrific job with cutting and the instructions how to assemble them.
And then it was time to paint them…and decorate them. Several months later and they are done!
GarageThis was the first building I did and I painted the building in about two days…so that went really fast. But then the decorating and detailing had to be done. That was a lot of work, but also loads of fun. I used bits from my stash and also lots of printed furniture, good ol’ paper craft! In the end the building became a garage/workshop with an apartment on top (first floor: supplies, toilet, shower, second floor: living area). And I really went to town with weathering on the outside. I wanted the buildings to be dirty at the lower end as if the thick smog all smudged the lower parts of the buildings. And with some acrylic paint pens I added a lot of graffiti, these pens are just so cool.
PLC Technology office buildingThis building is HUGE and has a massive foot print. I love it as it fits so well with the Cyberpunk cities we all know and love from the movies and series. But this building also took the longest. It’s three stories and painting the insides took a long time. At the moment I don’t have any furniture inside, maybe some day…I designed some logos and stuff for the building (PLC = Pats Laser Cuttings
) to finish it all of.
But the whole building can be taken apart and put back with less layers too, so lots of functionality too. And once again lots of weathering on this piece, it took quite some time because of its size. I made sure I also matt varnished the windows so you couldn’t look inside. Not only does it give a better Cyberpunk look, it also hides the lack of furniture.

Sushi barThis probably is my favourite building in looks and design. I love the stairs, bar area, storage below and the restaurant itself. This building also took quite some time, but that was mainly because of all of the extras I put in to make it look more realistic. And for the storage area I also added lots of boxes to make it more interesting to play in and not just a big empty area.
Sprawl StallA small filler building and I designed it as a news stall of some sort. So I added posters and a backwall with magazines. Quite easy to do and it’s very useful because of its size. Excellent to fit in between buildings to break up line of sight and to make the table more interesting. I absolutely bombarded it with graffiti to make it as gritty as possible.
Crunchy BugIn the future of Cyberpunk animal meat is probably either gone or a luxury for the rich. But hooray for insects! The Crunchy Bug franchise is the fast food of the future where you can enjoy a nice Grass Whopper, BugSlurry or a Beetlebox. I designed the logo and general graphic design for the brand and made sure the building was in matching colours. Lots of fun to do.
And of course a shot with everything together was necessary too. So I did some scenic shots on my table with filler scenery, vehicles and miniatures to give the impression of a city. Always nice to finish a project with such shots.
