Khurasan previews SCYTHIAN heavy gun system (15mm/28mm)
« on: February 07, 2014, 03:12:49 PM »
Very pleased to preview the Federal Scythian Heavy Gun System which will be available in a few months in both 15mm and 28mm scales. This vehicle mounts a huge 240mm plasma launcher on the reliable Sabre tank hull, giving the cannon system a great deal of protection.

Firing this weapon at full strength requires more energy than can be generated internally in the Sabre-class hull, so it is fitted with a generator trailer. The vehicle was originally driven by tracks but as part of the MEP (Mobility Enhancement Programme) some vehicles were retrofitted with low hover anti-grav engines. (The trailers were retrofitted as well.)  The model above is a bit of a mishmash, with tracks on the main vehicle and grav drive on the trailer.  Not a way the vehicle would actually operate, of course!  :^)

These vehicles have been used very effectively in both indirect and direct fire modes, and are particularly effective at dismantling heavy enemy targets such as mecha.

The master shown in the picture above is the 28mm version but the 15mm version is identical in all respects (only smaller!). It will probably be available in 15mm before 28mm (I assume--unless my 28mm caster gets them turned around very fast!). Stay tuned for details.

That.

Can you please post a pic with a mini next to it to have a better sense of its size?

I'm sorry, Ajsalium, I don't have one at the moment, but if this is helpful it's the same hull as the Sabre light/medium tank which was recently released.  Here's a picture of the 28mm Sabre Tank next to some of our 28mm infantry, painted by dwartist.

The Sabre is a tank so its turret and gun are smaller than the Scythian's, and it does not use the aux generator of course.  As you can see the men's heads come up to the hull roof.  Dwartist mentioned that it's got the same final drive length as a Land Raider and is about 40mm shorter in length.
