Booboo - yeah I've been following the Otherworld thread, but it looks mostly like a skirmish and not a stereotypical dungeon crawl (which is really the feel I'm after).  I started re-reading Cavern Crawl the other night and it looks good so far.  Since I love designing card decks, I also considered designing a "generic dungeon" card deck which could be used with a variety of games (simple encounter descriptions, monsters etc.).

And unfortunately it won't contain any campaign mode or experience leveling it seems.

Will still get it but maybe I was expecting too much.

Momotaro,

I might give the Pathfinder box a look - I debated even just getting that anniversary old school D&D and giving it a whirl.  The problem is that "most" of my games end up at conventions, or one-off games, so that's why I'm hesitant to go too RPG-deep into one.  I might pick it up and use it for myself and my brother who lives in town or something.  I really like Cavern Crawl (with one exception - not a fan of damage charts).  Other than that it looks quite brilliant.

I'm leaning heavily toward converting a Warhammer Quest style over, using several decks to allow random dungeon crawl, or GM-driven stuff.  I'm also very tempted by icon dice...to give that old school Hero Quest feel (and make it stupid easy to understand at large conventions - "You're attacking, you want swords...you're defending, you want shields".  lol

I was hugely turned off by the Myth aesthetic (childish anime stuff) so that'll be a big no for me - unless the rules are available solo or separately.  Looking to keep more with the original D&D look and feel.
That was my gripe with it too at first, as I'd like to keep all my minis at least potentially compatible. But the actual miniatures are not nearly as cartoony as some of the earlier Warhammer and (A)HQ stuff. In fact, having handled the actual minis myself, I suspect that they will blend into my existing collection almost seamlessly...
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...
