Future Combat Dino Rider
« on: February 08, 2014, 12:09:34 PM »
The Dinosaur Apocalypse of The Purple Rainbow Crystal Fields topic (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=63082.0) finally pushed me into finishing my cavalry rider for Future Combat.
The SF Dinorider was sitting half painted a couple of months on my paint-table, , it will be used in the book to illustrate cavalry units.

Dino by Copplestone Casting, Rider old VOID mini (if I recall correctly)
The saddle is made of Milliput and some bags and a bottle from Assault minis are also added to cover my clusy sculpting.

That looks the business :)

An excellent mix of manufacturers. You are correct, the rider is an old Void 1.1 Viridian marine scout:

In a unit how do they get to decide who are the "Horse (Dino) Holders" when fighting dismounted?  Smallest caliber pistol?

Very thematic figure.  Good work!

Gracias,

Glenn

Amazing! I have that same dinosaur figure somewhere!

This piece you've painted reminds me, for some reason, of an old PC game called Outcast.

Thanks folks!

???
Sorry, I do not understand the question...
Is it about how you see if the unit is mounted or dismounted?

You could get some matching old Viridian Weapon Teams figs (they are in the same uniforms/helms) for the dismounted riders (if you wanted!).

Nice paint! :)

I guess it's a (quite witty, I dare say) joke on the modern "mounted infantry" practice of seconding one in a number of troopers (in the SS cavalry regiments of WW2, I think it was one in four) to take care of the animals when the riders dismounted to fight.

The poor fellow with the "smallest calibre pistol" (hurr hurr) draws the short stick, so to speak. ;) I wouldn't want to be the one to steady four riderless dromaeosaurids. lol

Great colour combination, btw.
