hi Ged,

I've got very limited time at the moment but if you take a peek at the following link, you'll find some basic info:

http://world4.eu/armour-in-england-from-the-10th-to-the-18th-century/

Depending on when you want part of the reign of Henry III you want the miniatures, the the Crusader here would do (for later on):

Agreed, Darrell - less the Teutonics with the hat racks on their heads  lol

For knights: Full helms, extra protection on knees and elbows, shoulder plates, introduction of breastplates (hidden by short surcoat), heater shields.

Serjeants: similar, with fewer full helms, but more kettle helms.

Foot: Welsh long spears and longbows, Border longbows and English spearman and crossbowmen.

The assizes of Henry III give an example review of what the king wanted to have ;)

Not a perfect translation, sickles should read falchions, and a gisarme is a blade carried on a long shaft, ie a proto halberd.

edit smelling mistokes!

I think the Fireforge plastics could be useful for this project.

Yeah, best not include the Teutonics, though you could do some head swaps and have some cloaked kniggets trotting about ion then battlefield.

Yeah, they would work just as well, though some can be a bit too 'heroic' looking for me. Their foot are good though and would be especially good for converting to long spears..

Darrell

your right i will avoid the Teutonic look as i would like my
guys to look "gritty" and battleworn ....possibly a "crusade" scenario..
or maybe a Castle attack first!

Go for it Ged! A siege sounds like a good starting place.

Ebob Miniatures do a sculpt of Edward the 1st both mounted and dismounted and some foot that may be of some use from their Rebellion range

Ged,

The only thing I would add to that is that the range  is quite close to 25mm and quite slight in build also. Nothing wrong with that of course but there would be compatibility issues with other ranges.

Doh! Of course! How did I forget???  o_o

The Curteys 13th C range is full of great mini's that would be great for the period in question too.
