Great conversion Steve. Very much looking forward to seeing how this develops. :)

Do you have a spreadsheet ???

Yes but Stokesay?
10mm pirates?
SSS?

Oh dear... He's off again  lol

Such little faith!

Everything is happening at the same time, it's just that only some bits get reported!

The two castles await vac form sheets, with the mould finished yesterday.  SSS has been slowed by the Snow Trac tracks that have been resculpted while working on the Boer bits (you'll see them in a couple of images).  While pirates need more cannon which along with SSS new survivors and shamblers are in the midst of being cast (albeit delayed by man flu).

So ya boo shucks with knobs on  ;D

It will surprise you but no .... It is a small, self contained project with which i am flying by the seat of my pants, occasionally glancing towards Plynkes and other colonial chaps to ensure the right direction.  ;)

The loco has arrived

As mentioned previously it is a 0-6-0 Jinty which matches a type manufactured in the very late 1890s.  It's an 00 gauge Hornby that I intend to modify in the 'style of Michi', which will bulk it out considerably (and yes, I know the chimney is missing!)

The train comes out at 34cm versus my overall board length of 120 (which is up from the original plan of 90).  I had contemplated adding a tender though I think I will compromise by leaving it out (this being wargaming with a railway rather than a railway for wargaming).

Somewhat light headed (though that might be the man flu!)

I've gone for small tiles rather than big boards so I can swap them around and to ease transport and storage.

So, I have the nicely squared off tiles.  For slightly raised areas, I can simply build up.  However, the drop down into the donga presents a problem that might unravel my plans for gap-free tile alignment.

Some scratching of head later, I have decided to use this stuff:

One pack is sufficient for my 90 by 120 board.

Notice the narrow gaps in the foam boards, which are to allow it to be compressed between rafters.  For my purposes they'll provide useful cutting lines for a reasonable square edge.

I expect that I'll actually glue foam beneath 9 of the 12 tiles, with the three for the donga having its side walls added then being butt up against the adjacent tiles that are raised on plinths.

As it's the more fragile polystyrene, I expect I'll protect the exposed surfaces  of the plinths with a coat of wood glue and a wrap of gaffer tape.

As regards cutting polystyrene ..., has anyone tried connecting a thin wire to a soldering iron?

Interesting - well to me, not necessarily anyone else - of the three packs of Sudan infantry, one set have significantly larger heads (faces and helmets).

MF1, SB42 (I think), SB43

The Scots (SB28?) also have the smaller head.

Re: Second Boer War for BLAM14 (UD 21/2- a horse consumes a lot of greenstuff)

I should have said..., the blockhouse needs 7 Scots.... 6 privates and a corporal.  The privates will be the six firing/loading conversions and the corporal will be made from the soldier advancing with rifle at port in the above photo......I have straightened his legs so that he is now standing still and I'll add a greenstuff kilt and carve him a nice pair of calves.

Anyways, point of this post is the wip standing horse, which has now been roughed out ready for cutting and sanding back

Before I attack with scalpel and wet'n'dry paper, thoughts on the wip horse would be very much appreciated.   :)
