There are some that do try to do just that, mate.

What I would add too your comment though is, I wish people would aspire to this sort of level of terrain making if your putting on a display/demo game at a wargames show!!

This is a spot-on comment for me.
I have seen a fair few 'display' games where a bit more effort to please the eye would certainly have paid off.
I appreciate that not everyone has the kind of talent to pull something like those trains displays of, but you can always tell if someone has not even tried.
