Dougram collectors box
« on: February 16, 2014, 02:10:34 PM »
There have been a few topics on here were people converted or simply adopted dougram model kits to 15mm or 20mm miniatures. By chance I spotted a collectors box of these kits coming out soon-ish. Not sure what they go for on ebay and the likes but thought it might be of interest to some of you. HLJ link below but I'm sure others will stock it as well.

Dang it! Not too long ago, I spent quite some money on getting several of those individual kits from Japan for my 15mm Battletech project. I actually had a guy there sourcing them for me and then negotiating the price for a percentage. That boxed set costs as much as what I paid for just two of those long OOP kits...  :?

Ah well, nothing to do now but get me at least one of those sets now... :D

Thanks for pointing that out!  8)

Could you show a picture of one of them next to a 28mm miniature for me please? I am thinking that they may be equivalent in size to a 1/60 Votoms kit.

Grrr...more stuff I shouldn't buy but is very tempting...particularly the way these kits go out of production and become quite valuable.  Hmmm...maybe a big HLJ order is in...order?

Quite my idea as well. Either I end up using them or sell them of in a few years and the might just turn a small profit then, or at least break even.

Does anybody have a good pictures of these next to 15mm miniatures? I'm still on the fence a bit.

I checked Lake Plastic, but it turns out most of the kits are a different scale, so not in this set, and I will not be able to take pictures. I did consider them at one point though, resigning to the fact I would have to biggerize them to be to the desired scale (1/100 (15mm) Battletech project). But then I found out that several of them were also made in 1/120, which worked much better than the 1/144 of these kits and I eventually was able to get my hands on those instead.

Still; I do have the research I did when sourcing the correctly sized (unseen) Mechs, which still might be a bit helpful:

So even when it won't be contributing to the abovementioned project, that collection set is still pretty sweet and worth to have stashed away... ::)
