Pulp Alley - New Vegas
« on: February 17, 2014, 12:09:13 AM »
So, I ran a Pulp Alley game today using my nearly finished Holocostco for 4 of my friends today, and it worked out okay. There were 2 townsfolk groups, some Vault Dwellers, and a batch of Raiders. These were not built like a standard league - everyone was a sidekick level.  I also made the decision to place a monster randomly for every Peril of 2 hits or more that the players had to deal with as the peril - we then moved the monsters when everyone was done.

Starting positions and overview....

Grampa and Granny Smith with their daughter Jane.

Deirdre, Anna, and Walt from the Vault.

Peter and Lois, with their lovely children Meg and Chris.

And Scar, with her compatriots Violet and Cook-Cook.

Since I don't know how many photos can be in a post, we go to a new one...

So, here is one more overview pics...

The Vault Dwellers moved first, moving up to a Winnebago to activate the first plot point - a case of Vault-Tec doodads...
and an angry Yao Guai.

Elsewhere, the townies moved into the parking lot...

And the Raiders cautiously pace the building.

The other Townies move in through the loading dock, and open the safe - to find a nest of scorpions!

Scar finds a Ghoul in the toilet, but is unhurt.

And Granny disturbs a sleeping Gecko.

It was about this time that the players started realizing how valuable playing perils was, and they started throwing them everywhere, as I had said any vehicle or stack of boxes could be considered perilous once.  This was only the second time any of them had played, and the last time was two months ago for my Wolfenstein game. From here I started having trouble keeping track of everything, having a bit of a hangover and lack of sleep from an "I hate Valentines" party I had attended the night before.

Lovely set-up, though. Beautiful scenes!

Peter's family quickly splats the scorpions, and takes the valuables from the safe. Meg went down, but did not stay there.

Anna finds a Gecko in a Taxi, and names him Driver, before shooting him.

Cook-Cook runs up and burns the Ghoul, only to find a Cazador Wasp in a box!

The Vault Dwellers and the Smith family were trading shots back and forth in the parking lot to little effect on either side, while the player in charge of Peter and his family ran unopposed in the Costco. That player had gained control of initiative, and was playing it very well - as soon as the Vault player shot, he immediately told the townie player to activate, and this goaded the two to keep shooting at each other in retaliation, leaving him to run free.

In the meanwhile, Chris ran inside to a pile of pre-war tech...

And was promptly eaten by an angry Deathclaw!

As Granny showed the Gecko what for with her trusty shotgun.

Lois attacked with a mother's instincts - and a chainsaw! - and took down the Deathclaw.

The Raiders run will nilly from the Cazador...

As the Dwellers run for the store.

Violet fries the wasp with her laser...

And another Gecko comes from a box.  Did they pack these things in the old world?

The Raiders try to take down the Smiths, only to get gunned down.

And Jane runs inside to find the rumored weapons cache, defended by a nasty Ghoul.

But to no avail, as the other family runs off the board with control of 4 plot points!

The winners!
They got the satellite parts, the Rad-Away, a safe, and the pre-war tech.

I have to admit - I put wayyyy too many of the plot points too close to where Peter's family started.  Something to solve for when I run the game at convention.  I also need to add an access point to the side of the building, whether a ladder or door, and put more points in the parking lot. It was fun though, and no-one complained too much.

Thanks - I need to get one of your Watseland Dragon, but I am kinda broke at the moment.

I am looking forward to the package from Pardulon, so I can put shelves in instead of just boxes, and I still need to build cashier lanes.

Neal,
It was a very fun game.
Lots of action and lots of monsters,
what more could one ask for.
All the terrain was great, loved it.
Thanks for the game, thanks to your wife for lunch.
