Bearing of weapons within the city of Rome was strictly forbidden. The gangsters had to conceal their weapons under the clothes and they surely didn't care about having shields. But like rumacara said, of course it's possible to use the figures for various reasons scenarios outside of Rome.

That fact is in the rules system in the ganesha games "Song of Shadows and dust". As civilians have a role to play in the game, they can raised against you if the use of weapons is detected..... ;D

Nervisfr, i´m sorry but i´ve never heard about the Ganesha rules "Song of Shadows and Dust" but this is a good tip. For the time being i´m just collecting, converting and hopefully painting the miniatures but as soon as i have enough miniatures i plan to search for some rules. Eric those gangers are very nice indeed. Does the first on is a crusader miniature? [/quote}

The rule is for you ! Street fight, assassination, slave revolt, night watch and vigilantes, etc.....Fun to play and easy to learn. Play on 90x90 cms but needed some buildings to make the job !

The 1st on left is a greek Artizan light troops (before they leaved us for Gorgon Miniatures). The second is a BTD saxon, the third is a Foundry with a Westwind pict head reconverted into ganger and the last is a Crusader Irish.

For all those of you that like this project there are some great news. Victrix miniatures are about to launch 2 new boxes of plastic greek light armed figures that are great to convert to this theme and others so keep a look at Victrix for those.

Rumacara

it's a great news for converters like you and me.....but i still have a mountain of lead to explore in my stock....  :'(

Hello all

Well, like the Professor told, weapons bearing was furbidden but in harbour zones probably they were easier to get.
About the shields there are always those used by the gladiators and probably some bodyguards but yes they are cumbersome in a street fight. I used to reenact the medieval period (although not the same thing) and fighting with sword and shield on a restricted area is a nightmare.
Eric thanks for the tips. I might get my hands on those rules. They seems to be very interesting.

Boys and girls, lets see your roman civilians both armed and unarmed so lets publish some photos and give some ideas for this is the theme of this post. like me and Eric please state what miniatures you are using on your paintings and conversions so that as many people can complete their ranges and search for proper miniatures.

Buildings ideas are also welcome since a proper game isnt so interesting without buildings.

Luidinuovo, thanks for remembering me and others about the Mordheim rules.

Cheers all

Hello all

Here are some updates although not painted yet.

First 2 west wind pict figures mounted (for those that use them somewhere in the province and not a city).
You can always mount them without shields :D

Next 2 are Agema (first one with a foundry head and rock sculped)

The other 4 are all Black Tree Design with no convertion. Depending on what you plan to do you can always use "the locals" as civilians. It gives more variety

Cheers
