Hello Prof.Witchheimer

Very nice project indeed with lots of inspiration pics.
I´ve started a project of a roman street gang and here are two pictures of miniatures that might give you some ideas for the roman civilians

Cheers

@Rumacara- I did miss your post till today, sorry! Very interesting choice of figures, a bit chunky and clumsy but in a good way. I think I like them. Who makes them?

Hello

Sorry for not answering untill today.
Many of the miniatures are foundry veteran legionaires (cesarian range) unarmoured and many more are transformations i´ve made.
From wargames foundry to crusader miniatures and west wind productions, and of course lots of green stuff and head swap.
Here are some painted models.

If you need the specific models i´ve used i can tell the references.
I will have more transformed soon and i will post them.

Cheers

ooppppssss
new kid on the block

Sorry but i´ve placed two of the same images
Here are a few more.
These are for a project of a roman small patroll using what they have on "a night behind enemy lines".
The idea is that the romans are advacing on enemy territory and are sending patrols of veterans to investigate and cause trouble against their foes.

Cheers

Hello Prof. Witchheimer

First thanks for creating this post.
Like you could see i´m not confortable with postings. My skill with a computer is not the best thing.
I hope you and everyone else on this forum can share their painted roman civilians with me and all.
I have some ideas to complete this post and as i´m going on i will post some pics and write some usefull tips.

Cheers all

Do you have in mind to play with the Ganesha rules "Song of Shadows and Dust" ?

Because, you conversion will be perfect for the job  o_o

i'm starting a similar project like you but based actually on the civilians side (see details here, using the translate button) .  ;)

but i now produce some gangers too :

Frenchy Eric, aka Ch'ti Eric or Re-Animator

Fascinating project. Would a Roman street gang really be uniformly fitted out with shields or even have any shields at all? I would think they'd be unwieldy in close quarters street fighting and attract quite a lot of attention.

Hello all

Doowopapocalypse the games workshop head is a most and it has endless use. You can see other people using it in other miniatures and it also looks great. The only problem is with the scale. When you mix 30mm or even 32mm heads on smaller figures they tend to be bigger than the miniature itself. Thanks for your opinion. :)

Nervisfr, i´m sorry but i´ve never heard about the Ganesha rules "Song of Shadows and Dust" but this is a good tip. For the time being i´m just collecting, converting and hopefully painting the miniatures but as soon as i have enough miniatures i plan to search for some rules. Eric those gangers are very nice indeed. Does the first on is a crusader miniature?

Axabrax, you probably are right about the shields but i wanted the miniatures to be used in other projects.
Imagine the same miniatures for the following;

Roman street gang
Spartacus revolt
Roman warship armed crew
Roman bandits gang
Ancient pirates
and so many more things. If i could i would buy several and convert hundreds for al these themes but miniatures are expensive and i have to stick with some for all these ideas. :o

For all those of you that like this project there are some great news. Victrix miniatures are about to launch 2 new boxes of plastic greek light armed figures that are great to convert to this theme and others so keep a look at Victrix for those.

Cheers all

Bearing of weapons within the city of Rome was strictly forbidden. The gangsters had to conceal their weapons under the clothes and they surely didn't care about having shields. But like rumacara said, of course it's possible to use the figures for various reasons scenarios outside of Rome.
