BioShock Infinite Heroclix size comparison, New pics 2/20
« on: February 17, 2014, 04:24:18 PM »
I recently purchased the BioShock Infinite Heroclix starter set. it comes with 6 figs, 5 of which are compatable with 28-32mm figs. I'm posting shots of the miniatures with a Pulp Figures 28mm for comparison. First up Elizabeth and Booker, the Protagonists. The figures are molded with a crescent shaped plastic base that popped off the Heroclix stand with a little prying from an x acto blade. Both are prepainted but take craft store paint well. Elizabeth is close to 30mm and sizes well with West Wind figs. Booker is closer to 32mm but slender. Both could lose height if the plastic stands were cut away (I was too impatient to do it.) I will be posting the other characters in this pack on this thread.

Wow.

I am usually of the 'a little difference in size doesn't matter, because not everyone is the same height' persuasion.

Those Bioshock figs are just too tall, though. Maybe without the bases adding a millimeter or two, but even so...

I concur that for 28mm they're a mite tall. Several companies produce 30+mm lines. Reaper, Copplestone and Tiger miniatures all come in tall. It looks like the IHMN figs are 30 plus as well. Elizabeth is the shortest miniature in the set, she mixes well with taller West Wind Figs.

This is a Handyman, a human/machine hybrid. This is the fig I splashed the most paint on. The hands and parts of the exposed upper arm and lower leg were flesh coloured despite being textured like hammered metal.  i painted the skin flat black and gun metal. I did the same to the feet which were painted light grey. added some highlights to the bronze chest piece and painted the wires coming out of his shoulders copper. It makes a great evil minion.

This was the only fig in the set that was glued directly to the Heroclix base. A very useful miniature, suitable for hauling any number of VSF rigs. The horse has a saddle moulded to it so it could be a fitting mount for a steampunk hero.

Last and best! This was my favorite, a heavily armoured soldier holding a huge revolving weapon. The fig looks like a brass plated Ned Kelly. It's 32-33mm in height. I gave it a dark grey wash to bring out the quilting on the gambeson and some dull gold on the armour to high light the details. A great fig for any steampunk or VSF setting. There was one more figure in the set. Unfortunately at 35 mm plus just to tall for my collection.

I'm still gnashing at being too late for the starter with that mechanical steed.

Just the thing to hunt steam-driven werewolves...  lol
