Romans in heavy armor
« on: February 03, 2014, 01:54:25 AM »
I'm looking for Roman troops in heavy armor in 28mm
Didn't they wear extra armor during the Dacian war?
but as it is for a fantasy project it could be a later period.
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it anymore and what is it seems weird and scary.

I believe a metal manica (arm guard) was introduced during the Dacian Wars to counter the devastating effects of the Dacian falx, along with the strengthening of the helm. I assume these types of troops would be represented in miniatures by someone, but unknown to me.

Another shout for Aventine. They are simply gorgeous and some of the best miniatures i have painted.

A&A have some extra heavy types in their 3rd century line - they're meant for the campaigns of Aurelian and so forth.

Good idea, these a&a models really deserve it to be called heavy, they really look that way
