Peter Pig Vs FOW Israelis?
« on: February 18, 2014, 04:40:23 PM »
Hey LAF,

I cant find any comparisons of PP and FoW/Battlefront 15mm Israeli infantry. Could someone snap me one?

The battlefront ones look very nice, but the range is very limited.

Thanks,

I can snap one in few days, but they are apple and oranges. The style is different and the PP Israeli are in 1982 garb, completely incompatible with the 1967 garb of the Battlefront ones.

I quite agree with you. I was thinking of using the PP ones to fill the gaps in the FoW Israeli range. On further reflection, its almost defiantly a terrible idea!  lol

Thanks for the link - great paintwork.

Does Rebel Minis have a UK distributor? Their Post-Apoc chaps would make some excellent addition to some generic '3rd World' games that I've been wanting to do for quite a while.

Thanks guys,

MM.

If you're just going for generic "3rd World" why not use the ARVN or Australians from PPs "Men of Company B" range?

I own PP Israelis and AK-47 "Professionals" which, IIRC, are roughly the same thing as their Vietnam Australians. I also own the FoW Australians and Israelis.

In general the FOW figures are much larger than the PP figures.  Both are nice but the FoW figures have the edge in animation and detail. I also prefer "larger" 15mm figures. I don't believe they would mix well given their significant difference in size.

That being said, the difference in available troop types isn't that great depending on the level of combat you're playing. We use anything from a mech platoon to an understrength company per side and both ranges can support that with appropriate platoon and company level GLs, LAWs, MGs, and mortars. Go above those levels and both ranges will have gaps.

In any case, as fastolfrus notes, any of these figures will work for "generic" moderns, especially the PP Vietnam Australians and FoW Australians. We primarily play near-future games and use the figures above with zero issues. In 15mm with 1 stand representing a squad they work perfectly well.
