Oh boy, what a selection of beauties!! And I don't recognise so many of them, which is good, another reason to buy more stuff :)

Can you please tell me where these on the pic below come from? And who makes the ships and the guards?

btw, I've created a thread for you, feel free to let me know if you wish to change the topic name.

at your service Prof :

the 1st on the left : Warlod from their roman civilians. Small size so i'll give him the role of the jewish merchant.....

the 2 next ones are BTD Spartan or greek elders (don't remember which reference on the 2 they produce).

and the pointing one, in armour is a BTD too (Spartan elder i think).

The last 3 are (from left to right) :

Warlord roman civilians (small but seated so no problem). Looks like a veteran legionary.

Uncommon, it' a Redoubt Priest ! I found him in a the earlt italian range, in the Etruscan no picture ref RR14 sacrificial set. Smaller than the classical Redoubt scale.

One more elder from BTD.

Eric

Top service, thank you much! I clearly need these greek civilians. Also I will have a look at the Redoubt range.

What about sheeps and guards?

Sheep are Irregular. Not super scultping but cheap !  lol

Sheepard are 2 foundry (adults).

The boy is an Irish Crusader Miniatures from the lone civilian pack of the range !  :'(

The romanised guards are my urban cohorte or ludus guardians. They are BTD sword cloaked auxialiary. With some conversion for the cloak on some references.

I have been reading a lot of John Maddox Roberts' "SPQR" mysteries lately, and the combination of that and these threads has me itching to do some Roman street brawls myself. It is one of those periods where you probably need to spend more time on scenery than figures though.

I really love the selections of figures you have here. Thanks for sharing the sources.

that's the goal of this topic and the one of Rumacara  lol  :

Bring you to the dark side of the force ...............of the figurines...  ;)

You have to be aware and feel as converter when you look at a range of figurines. Even if the range is not of the same period you are looking for.

And ask yourself : What can i do with this figurine ? I turn German (half naked) into Hillbillies for a western period in this way.

Keep you imagination high and you 'll find a lot of solutions for your work conversion on minis.

Indeed, and becoming more creative and converting figures is something I have wanted to work on lately. Thanks for the inspiration!

As rumacara, i'm involved into hooded gangers conversion work. to give this (from Spartacus serie) :

For this purpose, i use cloaked and hooded pictish figurines. Some nice are available in the BTD range. I like to use for conversion slinger because you have nearly nothing to cut offf from the figurines and the poses are very usefull for the work !

Otherwise, the use of the Westwind pict heads set is required and highly recommended !

Hello all

Eric, those heads from west wind are magic.
Both for my civilians and armed legionaires.

i used too the saxon and the romano-british ones !
I mix them with my BTD's viking to get original Saxon/viking, late Germanic warriors......

they are excellent and highly sculpted !

yup they are

I also use them on my legionaires and some convertions.
If you go for plastic there are those of the warlord ww2 brittish infantry that are usefull for romans.

Cheers

Hello Eric

Not the commando ones. The infantry plastic box.
Ech box brings more heads than what is necessary so i used the spare ones
Here are some examples:
