I'm slowly building up my collection of VSF stuff and thought I'd paint a mini to use based on my Avatar.
It's a Westwind Victorian Gentleman ( The gas lamp is also from Westwind).

Now I've just got to decide whether to make him a Hero or Villain...? ???

Very nice. A true Savant Occulte. Unconcerned with conventions or labels. His actions, or inactions speak for themselves.

Much more than a superb paint job and a well executed lamp.

Fantastic composition. Sparce down-to-business.

No, I think you're bang on. :) The Ozzman cometh.

Beautifully painted model. And as stated above, I think that he has his own agenda....

That's pretty great.  I wish I could build a model like my avatar.  In fact, maybe that should be a new contest.

Superb stuff. How did you get the effect of the gaslamp? Was it orange-red built up  gradually with white in stages?

Excellent job PM (he says, green with ennvy). I love the paintjob on the lamp and the detail of the autumn leaves on the base.

Must change back to my painted Bullshott avatar.

Cool. I think black is probably the hardest colour to paint and highlight (okay, strictly speaking it's not a color... I know). However I like the way you achieved that.

Thank you all for the comments!

The mini is from Westwind's Jekyll and Hyde range and is listed in a set called "GHJ0005 - London Gentlemen"

The lamp was done with a yellow base-coat followed by a brown ink wash. I then built up layers of orange then yellow working towards white.

Black is difficult to highlight without it looking too grey. I tend to use "Flesh" to mix with the black for highlights on "natural materials" like cloth or hair etc and I mix it with white for metal. The flesh gives it a slightly warmer tone so it doesn't look so clinical.

As for whether he will be a Hero or Villain, I like the idea that "His path is his own".

Thanks again for the comments.

Excellent paintwork Pop. And yeah, he looks a bit ambi-ethical to me too. :-*

Lovely stuff Pappa, he most certainly looks like your Avatar!
