Greetings from Australia
« on: February 25, 2014, 10:00:09 PM »
Hello All

I have been lurking around this forum for a while, and even started posting(!), since getting back into miniature painting about one year ago.

I started in this hobby in 1997 playing Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 (2nd edition). 40K 2nd edition remains my first love and I am currently repainting my Orks and Ultramarines to my current standard. I also have plans to paint some old school eldar pirates at some point as I have always loved the Falcon model, but could never afford one in the past.

After 4th edition 40K came out I lost interest for a while and started painting historical miniatures, mainly WWII and VSF (not really historical, I know!).

My current interests are:

1. 2nd edition 40K Orks and Ultramarines
2. WWII Home Guard and German Invaders for a Chain of Command Operation Sealion project
3. VSF British and Prussians

and at some point I would like to paint...

4. French and British Napoleonics for a Sharpe Practice Skirmish Project
5. Fanstasy Skirmish based on a sort of quasi Warhammer world with old school Orcs Goblins Skaven etc but probably playing Song of Blades and Heroes rules....
6. Roman Civil Wars from the Marian/Sullan period through to Caesar/Pompey and the transition to Empire

I have made a few posts already in the Future Wars and VSF sections, and will continue to do so!

Thanks and I look forward to being a member of the community!

Thanks for the replies. I am located in Adelaide, South Australia.

Yes, I think so! Though I chose the name from a story by Somerset Maugham about a fellow who oversees a colonial station in Borneo, and remains impeccably dressed at all times, and generally upholds British standards in the Far East. Not unlike the ledger keeper in Conrad's Heart of Darkness who "keeps proper accounts in the middle of a pestilential swamp" (as they put it at Wargames Foundry) and is a vision in a proper starched shirt whilst all around him is in decay! Appealed to me somehow...

Welcome to LAF warburton.

May you have a long and merry stay with us.
I know you're too old to play with toy soldiers. So give them to me... NOW!
