New 'Riveting' Project...
« on: May 11, 2014, 07:45:22 AM »
I've always liked the look of the armoured traction engine used in South Africa, so I've started on one yesterday evening for my VBCW...

How it started

Stage two

And stage three ready for painting

Looks great. How are they going to see to drive it?

Very nice. It's permanently attached or with magnets?

Thanks :)

Dr De'ath, there are vision slits, they will show up better when its painted.

Von Lucky, it will be attached permanently once I've painted the traction engine itself.

Where did you get the traction engine?

Someone mentioned that before on one of my other armoured conversions but I don't think it would work as its only 1mm thick plasticard and will be to brittle :(

You could cast what you've made ,as the engine is almost completely covered by the armour that( I hate to say it)you don't actually need the engine, only a section of its funnel, the front wheels, and half the back wheels.
The whole body should be solid with axel stubs for the front wheels.Thats pritty much how It be done to make a retail product.
As a one off project its spot on,

Thanks chaps :)

The rivets are cut by myself from thin round plastic rod. A while ago I did a commission for a chap who wanted a dazzle camo but in grey as they were going to be Navy vehicles, since then I've wanted to try the same but in greens...

And with my Q trailer
