Big Game Hereford June 2014
« on: March 09, 2014, 01:31:37 PM »
By popular demand after yesterday's AVBCW Big Game I ran....I am planning a Big Game for Back of Beyond, in June this year.
Two to three tables (8x6') with up to 15 gents...
The village hall is available on the following Saturdays:

31st May
7th June
14th June (though at least one gent can't make that)
28th June

If people are interested, please PM me with the dates of your availability ASAP, along with what faction you would like to play.
There are options in early July too, so let me know of these as well, but I aim to get a date in before the school holidays start as many gents will be looking after children and be unable to attend

We will be using a variant on "Went the Day Well?" that Mort is writing, so the usual Command + 3 squads + A N Other unit x2. (NO TANKS !)
Pictures of last year's game are here.http://thelostcityofcarcosa.com/2013/06/23/bob-big-game-2013-06-22-part-1/

Possible protagonists include:

- White Russians
- Red Russians
- Greens / Anarchists
- Cossacks (various)
- Germans / Freikorps
- Turks / Basmachi
- French / Greeks
- British / Indian
- Adventurers / Bandits

Even if you don't have a standing army, but are interested pipe up, as several of us have more than one army that we can loan you for the day...

Usual charge of £10 for the day to include liquid refreshments throughout the day and a full buffet lunch.
Start 10-11am, finish 5-6pm.
Free parking.
We generally have a curry round my house (just up the road) afterwards in the evening with more liquid refreshments (all at your own expense) and I can accommodate a small number of guests overnight.
If the weather is good, I may do a BBQ !
Wandering stars, for whom is reserved, the blackness, the darkness forever.

I would be interested- I saw Tym and Tom and they told me about it- sounds great. Once you firm up the dates I will let you know if I can make it- it would be better if I knew sooner rather than later, so I can get the weekend off work.
Theres more 28mm Superhero Madness at my blog, http://fourcoloursupers.blogspot.com/
And for Ultra-modern Wargaming check out Hotel Zugando at http://ultramoderngaming.blogspot.co.uk/

Sounds like a really fun day out but Hereford is a little too far for me at that time in June (in other words I wouldn't get a pass!).

I really wish I could make it  :-[

Hi Rob,

Will let you know soonest - mind you Tym & Tom haven't responded with their availability yet ! DOH !
So I haven't got close to a confirmed date.
After tonight's parish council meeting, I'll get back to this and remind them and other usual suspects....

Hi,

As stated, I can put people up over night if that helps the budget any, and as one of the other guys is ex TA he's always up early so you'd probably be back home by mid-day.

Second calling notice.

If you want to turn up for this event shout now and shout loud.
At the moment, those who have spoken up, show that the 31st May and 28th June are the most popular dates.

I need 8+ players (inc me) to make the date viable financially and also in terms of gaming.
We are one person away from that objective.

We have spare armies even if you do not have a full set (or any) of your own. I painted 80 Cossacks last Spring, and they *are* going to get used on the battlefield !

Some of us are mad enough to paint new armies as well, including myself.
