Just one word about DOREEN ... : AMAZING !!!!

Fantastic work!!!

To see the Doreen in an AAR check out Michi's game here;

To make Doreen even more disgustingly awesome, he hand painted the words and carved the life boat out of a tree branch he found.

My earlier posting on this subject listed some boats made by game-related manufacturers (MBA, John Jenkins Designs, and Brigade Games).  By the way, the John Jenkins Designs boats are still listed as available.  Given that the postings have moved into the area of modified and scratchbuilt vessels, I thought I’d add a few that I’ve put together.  The tramp steamer and Yangtze gunboat are both built around Playmobil hulls that have been significantly modified.  The decks and cabin areas are made from Evergreen plastic.  The tug is a Lindberg model.  The hull had to be cut to waterline but it was a great length and width for 28s.  The only problem area was that the cabins lacked the appropriate height for 28mm figures so I raised the cabins with pieces of Evergreen plastic.  You can see the horizontal bands at the base of the cabins.   The motorboats, which remind me of the ones in Last Crusade, are toys I picked up at the swap meet and cut to waterline.  They were originally marketed by Chevron Oil Co.  All of these ships and boats have been seated on a base of Milliput to hide any uneven cuts made when cutting them waterline and to add additional strength to the hulls that have undergone significant modification.

I remember...  :D

Last step: The life boat.

It took me a little to get the idea how to make it, but I finally got it. I think the pictures speak for themselves. I did it from five to nine today:

A little painting to do and the work will be done.

Those are some seriously good boats, War In 15MM. I love that Yangtze gunboat in particular. Great work!

Thank you.  Broken-toy finds from my local swap meet have served me well.  Richard

Nice, I'm still looking for one, they are quite expensive on UK eBay.

Listed with a Buy it now, or make an offer. With seven watchers I thought better do it. So for the price of a meal and a bottle of red, I decided to go fishing.  ;)

Hello all

Professor Dinglebat and all. Like i said previouslly try to find it directly from Revell before you shop elsewhere.
That boat (SPORT FISHING BOAT) was released some 3 years back by Revell as well as some other kits comemorating the 60 or so aniversary from Revell.
I used to work on a modelling shop and i sold a lot so its worth try it. ;)

Cheers

Rui

I got the fishing boat at that time. Was fairly cheap then. Unfortunately, like a lot of things, it's waiting for me to get the time/enthusiasm to finish it. :(
