Greetings,

Battle of cheese what a great idea
I'm wondering what would happen if you'd included some chester, camembert or roquefort :)

I like those dwarfs, they have an attitude .. just right.
Where did you get that bridge? Self-made?

Good job

Thanks. The bridge is an aquarium piece I picked up along the way.

That is some wicked 15mm painting.

mikedemana - Pure cuteness wins this one!  My daughter would love these minis.  You did a great job of giving them big glossy eyes which makes them look more like real mice rather than micemen.  Who makes these minis?

A little confused here, and as with some of the previous entires in this round, but .... are we voting on painted figures or on background scenics?
My understanding is that the challenge is about painted figures, the background scenery is great, but really a distraction to judging the quality of brushwork on the figures themselves.
Just looking for some clarity .....

That's really up to you mate...that's what makes the LPL so interesting IMO.  Basically I go with...which picture do I like best...sometimes it's superb figures on a plain background and some times it's good figures on good terrain that when put together and well photographed make an evocative scene...you have to take each pairing as they come and choose your favorite.   I find overthinking it kills the pleasure...YMMV

Cheers,

Blue

Ps...both fun entries...good work to both.

The mice are from Splintered Light Miniatures (http://www.splinteredlightminis.blogspot.com/). They are one of my favorite miniatures companies and produce some amazing, character-filled models. Thanks for all the compliments on them. I have always had a blast painting their minis.

Sorry, Hb, that you felt my background distracted from viewing the paint jobs. The hexagonal bases are for a set of rules I'm writing to use these figures. I know it is not the best way to display them, but that is how I'm going to use them. I was going for a "woodland" look -- thus, all the foliage. The ruins are a nod to the "Redwall" of novels written by Brian Jacques.

Speaking of character, those are some wonderful troll slayers my mice are matched up against. I love the expressions on their faces -- great job giving them a slightly crazed look in their eyes...!

Both entries here are excellent. Mike, you painted amazing black eyes with shining light! Very good looking figures here, and the multi-bases have tonnes of character! The freehand on the cloak fringe is a great touch as well.

Thanks
n.

I recognized a mikedemana entry right away :) Nicely done!

Quite so that man!

And I alwyas think that the scenics really can make a big difference and shows how invested the painter was in the idea. Creating a story and a scene is all part of LPL (you only have to look at the winners, painted greatness of course but ususally with some mis-en-scen too!)

Well, I went back and re-read the rules and must have I mis-read#6 stating that background scenics are permitted as long as not digitally created. My bad!
My own preference is for figures against plain background, all the better to admire and learn from such terrific painting skills. Dioramas on the other hand combine so many skills that one single photo is not enough to capture all that is going on.

As a horrible painter, I am constantly amazed at what some of these contestants can do with 15mm figs. Seeing MikeDemana's work here and another 15mm entry in one of the other contests this week shows me that A) it is possible to create quality painted 15mm figs  B) I really have no business EVER entering any projects here, LOL.

On the other hand, all of the entries every week keep me going and show me a goal.  Thanks to all brave enough to enter!
