Rocky desert terrain in use

I wasn't sure which forum to post this in.  I hope I chose correctly.

There was a Warhammer 40K kill team tournament at our local gaming store on Saturday.  It was the debut of my rocky desert terrain table, which has been mentioned elsewhere on here so I thought you might like to see it in action.

I don't know if you'd be interested in any step-by-step construction info from me since I just took what I found on the web and applied it.  If so, I can certainly either write something quick up or answer questions.

The in-progress photos are here:

By the way, for the tournament laser pointers were made available to players due to the challenging line-of-sight situation on my table.  :-)

Superb pics, and it looks like you had a great time! And I love to see you to be really open-minded to using non-GW pieces for scenery - I HATE the anally retentive stance most GW-Fanboys take here in Germany. Yuck.

Would you mind if I posted the link to a german forum, so that others may be inspired by the pics?

It's nice to see the desert setting being used. It looks very good now the paint's finished.

The in-action shots give a much better idea how the table actually looks and works.
Are you also into wild west games? Think this would be big fun on this table.

I also like the desert table much more than some Forgeworld planes standing around on a boring airfield.
"I'd like to send this letter to the Prussian consulate in Siam by aeromail. Am I too late for the 4:30 autogyro?"
"Uh, I better look in the manual... This book must be out of date. I don't see "Prussia", "Siam" or "autogyro"...

Who´s talking about the Forgeworld crap? I meant those neat little Old Crow and Grendel dropships. ;)

I guess I´m too much of a mecha fetishist to succumb to the charm of the Badlands...

Thanks, everyone!  Chris, please feel free to post links to the photos.  They are there to share.

WitchfinderGeneral, yes I am into Old West.  I had all of those things in mind when I made this terrain.

It was funny but the way the 40K tournament was run, much of the table didn't really get used at all.  They were allowing figures to hop over the gaps without any difficulty and the scenario they used on the table didn't turn out to be well-suited to it, I think.  The small group (kill team) was placed on the plateau in the middle and the brute squad hordes had to come to them and wipe them out.  Hardly anyone used the low areas at all.  Ahh well, they will definitely be used in other games.
