looks impressive BUT the effect is completely ruined for me by the perfect tiled roof.

Agree.

...laser-cut terrain can be fiddly to assemble, and always has some details (like the roof) that need additional work to look realistic. The resin stuff on the other hand looks gorgeous right out the box, with detailed interiors too.

Agree with that too.

However superficially impressive MDF buildings look, they are too regular (even when they try to make them look higgledy-piggledy, like this one) they lack depth and texture, and they have no soul. Personally speaking, I don't like 'em.

But you pays your money and takes your choice...  ;)

Personally, I love them...and 4Ground sells alternate roofing kits for almost everything they sell (including tiles or "hay" etc.).

Knowing 4Ground the price is well justified on this one.  I know which one I'd rather haul around to game in (the 4Ground MDF stuff is double-walled and all of mine have survived much "contact with the enemy").  Again, I have zero reason to pick something like this up, but I dig their entire lineup of buildings.

I looks very good, but it would need some work to be really outstanding. In any case, I think this is an excellent inspiration for making my own tavern....well in some point down the line ;).

The neat thing about 4Grounds stuff is that you don't need to actually paint it...hell, on some of their other ones, the scorch marks from the cutter they use is part of the detailing and looks great
