Super Pershing for Bolt Action
« on: March 20, 2016, 05:44:24 AM »
Finished the 1/48th Tamiya Super Pershing conversion yesterday. It's now on it's way to it's new home and it's first push out on the table at next weekends Easter Bolt Action tournament.

Brush painted using GW acrylics with some pigments thrown on ......

Bigger pics plus all the wips shots on the blog.

cheers
Brent

Wow!....brush painted you say? You have skills! 8) If painting quality relates in any way to winning ability, this thing should storm the tournament! :-*

Edit:I meant to ask, the stowage, scratch built or bought? I would have said scratched as it just sits on the tank naturally. Some bought stuff can look a wee bit out of place, if you know what I mean.

Hey guys, thanks for looking in :)

Andy the stowage is Blackdog. I dremelled out parts of the underneath and laid down a base of greenstuff "tarps" for it to be pressed down into. One of my pet peeves is floating or stiff stowage, it's definitely worth the time to get it sitting down properly imo.

And yeah, after all the work it better bag a Tiger or two ..... it'll probably get panzerfausted or assaulted to death though as he's wedging it into a 1000pt list !

cheers

I echo the comments on the beautiful work you have done.  That gun barrel looks dangerously thin!  :)  I don't get the Hungary reference.

Can you tell me what the two large cylinders atop the turret are for?  Are they to help elevate the gun?

Anyway, I love the work you've done here.

Thanks again for looking gents !

Tim the cylinders are indeed to help balance the weight for the elevation system to work properly.

The Hungary reference is just a nod towards my alt-history Project '46 modelling and gaming project, where some vehicles in design or in development got into production and the conflict carried on. Just a bit of fun really.

If got a some Project '46 pics in a Flicker Album or on my blog if you want to have a look ....

Thanks Andy !

I've only just started putting stuff on Flickr so there's a bit to add yet, gives a bit of an overview without the reading that's on the blog .... sometimes it's just nice to look at the pictures  ;D

Excellent build.  I was just reading the first hand accounts of this beast from the guy who helped build it.  Engineering unit, that usually was tasked with recovering damaged tanks and putting them back into action.

Lots of good stuff in the book about using M7 Priests as Anti Tank units, and the results of finding a target for the Super Pershing to take on.

Incredible paintwork.  The Super Pershing is one of my favourite real life kit-bashes.  The additional armor plating on the turret was from a Panzer IV etc.  lol  Goofy vehicle!
