Nice paintjobs.  I really like the transport.  Is that OEM, or scratchbuilt?  You're right about the lighting effect not working though, although I couldn't point out exactly what's wrong with it.  Looks like the aliens manning the guns got splattered by a giant paint balloon.

The lighting effect is to even on the base. The base color should show up as a shadow pattern not as a proximity effect. Still you've done a great job, far better than I've ever achieved.

Neat. The light effect should be brighter, both on the source and on the area of effect. Try adding some more white to the mix for another pass if you want to try it.

Yeah there's no clear light source bud, looks like a bucket of light with no real direction needs a pin point or two.

Alternatively paint balling aliens sounds cool! ;)

I like the figs and your paint.

On Light

Since part of the 'laser' is round and it seems to be the source of the light, then perhaps,  just take a straight edge and lay out your 'field' of light. I bet you'll be surprised. ;)  It goes till blocked or absorbed. No?

On Shades and Tints

Hmm...it appears you're going with shades of blue. Maybe avoid "exactly white", however a lighter tint of blue could just do the trick. I even suggest a little 'blue-green' for highlights or a 'sparkle'.

Just me tho, your milage may vary.

Saucy aliens nonetheless.

Thanks for the pictures.

Hmm... have a batch of these already primed...  ::) - and even more not filed and based, yet....

Now I'm itching to get started - maybe I should pull them out tonight and see if it breaks my painter's block....  >:D
