Impressively done. Maybe you could share a list of colours you've used?

Thank you all for the kind words!  :D

Impressively done. Maybe you could share a list of colours you've used?

For the belly, the arms and legs the base colour is GW Bubonic Brown. For the back, the tail and the upper head I used GW Blazing Orange as the base colour. Both parts are then washed. The Bubonic Brown gets a Flesh Wash, the Blazing Orange gets a dark brown wash (for this I use Pelikan brown ink). The part where the two base colours meet gets a second dark brown wash.

Highlighting (Drybrushing) for the belly, legs and arms is done with a mix of Bubonic Brown and the two colours "Gealterte Knochen" and "Polierte Knochen" from Pegasus Spiele. I rather use these two than a normal white to mix with Bubonic Brown as they allow more subtle layers of drybrushing. The back, the tail and the upper head are drybrushed with GW Blazing Orange followed by GW Fiery Orange. The parts that I want to stand out get some Fiery Orange mixed with a little white drybrushing.

The spots on the sides and the back are painted black. For the claws I used "Gealterte Knochen" and "Polierte Knochen" again. "Polierte Knochen" for the teeth as well. The eyes are painted black first. After drying the spot that later is painted with GW Sunburst Yellow is painted white. A small black line is added as final detail on the eye.

OK, here are the two dinos I mentioned earlier. The Styracosaurus is from Epixx and fits perfectly for 28mm Miniatures. I did'nt like the painting scheme so I decided to repaint it completely. First I wanted to do it in greyish colours but then I went GW Bubonic Brown (I love that colour!).

Here's a picture of the original figure (the photo's rather charming though...):

And here's the repainted model:

The second dino is a Brachiosaurus from Schleich. Maybe a little small, but otherwise a very nice model. The paint scheme is not too shabby either so I decided to leave it in the original state.

Next are the Raptors...

I'd never have guessed you used the "Blazing Orange"! I wouldn't have thought of that for a Dino - the brown wash tones it down perfectly.

Something else I've learned for the future  :D

Yep, it does. Here's proof:

The styracosaurus looks great! Your re-paint really works well and has given me lots of ideas for transforming my pre-painted dinosaur models into something more impressive.

Would you mind if I copied some of your photos over to the Lost World Safari photo albums? I'm sure lots of the yahoo group would love to see them.

This is a wonderful thread and a beautifully conducted project.

You and your children are going to have one great looking game on your hands one day soon.

As a father myself, I would love to involve my son in something like this in the future. Good luck with it.

By the way I'm up for adoption.  lol

Great stuff! I always wanted to do a lost world game setting... but could never find the right dinos. These look right to me. Also, killer painting on those dinos!
