Portable generator bits
« on: March 28, 2014, 01:41:42 PM »
Looking for something to use as "force field" generator/VSF Arc Generator/portable "power source" for gaming.

"Vehicle deployable," man-pack, or in between in size.

Idea, bits, non-scratch builds?

Gracias,

Glenn

if you provide me some drawings, i can 3d model them and put on shapeways! (yeah, for free, after i've finished the radios for Fram Framson!)

for large stuff it might not be economical, but for small sized ones it's a great option!

This fellow mainly makes tank doo-dads, but he has a few suitable items: http://www.ebay.com/sch/machinator248/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=

Curtis at Ramshackle Games has hundreds of "bits" in his range that can be purchased for stuff like this as well as heavy equipment, damaged vehicles etc.

Webstore is due to re-open anytime now after his house move.

Here is something I'm working on as a shield generator.  It's part of a superglue bottle.  I still have a bit to do, but this should give you a rough idea.

Are there other cool things on shapeways that you have made for this hobby we need to look into and buy?

Unfortunately, the totality of my 3d were made as commissions for companies. Some are now going to be released by Resina planets.
Usually 3d is interesting for direct-use only for small objects, and i might happily take suggestions for small stuff from you users.

I might need a drawing (because photos or reference pictures aren't the same thing of a simple drawing) but most of the small objects are incredibly small to make.

Besides, i made some interesting 15mm robots, but unfortunately shapeways decided that they were too thin. They printed them  acouple of times (for me, for Agis and for Resina planet) but now they won't do it anymore. I will have to work on those 3Ds in this days.

I emailed about this and it appears to be quite large. It fits on the back of a Baneblade tank so you'd probably need to base it on its own if you were to use it

Man-portable? Well, you could try looking at a GW bits site for Dark Eldar bits as they often have suitable bits that can be chopped up or modified to suit a VSF style.

Something like these might work perhaps? Or these pistols if you trim them down?
