The continuing Song of Father and Sons
« on: July 13, 2014, 10:02:40 PM »
After a bit of a hiatus in which lego, boardgames and the sudden jump to fully independent reading took priority, my progeny (two boys, six and four) returned to the gaming fold with a vengeance during this afternoon's rainy weather. This time, they were the "baddies", and I took the part of the hapless villagers. As you might guess from the title of the post, we used A Song of Blades and Heroes as our ruleset although as I didn't refer to the rules at all during our game we may have strayed from the game as written in some respects!

Here's the field of battle just as it started to break up and sprawl in all directions - the narrow board is to prevent damage as little people stretch across - a hard lesson learned from a previous encounter  >:(  ::)

Did they manage to steal my cows? Well, have you seen small kids roll dice?! The full write-up (perhaps "photo roll" is more accurate) is on the blog, here, if you're interested.

I loved reading your Saturday afternoon adventure! Any game with cows as strategic objectives deserves special praise.

Great scenario for the guys!

I'm glad it amoosed you  ;)

They really enjoyed hunting for the cows and, towards the end of the game, they'd got really good at splitting it up so that one of them grabbed the beef and the other ran interference with his monsters.

Yeah, they do that, don't they? I reckon it's the real reason under-18s aren't allowed in casinos  lol
