PAINTSPLOJUN!
« on: April 06, 2014, 02:25:40 AM »
Hey LAF,

Just here to vent. Just had a bottle of silver paint explode whilst painting.

Went over all the models I was in the process of painting (at about 90% completion) and all over my clothes and face (including my eyes).

*Inward directed anger*

Explode? Were you shaking it?

lol, I just tipped over an old bottle of Goblin Green (turned it back up before any spilled out) to move to write my reply.

See, this right here is why it's not a good idea to use firecrackers as paint agitators. I know the other kids are all like "blah blah blah sensationalist fearmongering blah blah blah nanny state blah blah blah totally safe blah blah", but seriously, everybody think like that when they're young and immortal. It's all fun and games until someone gets shot by a cop who mistook them for a Terminator 'cause they're all half silvery.
History viewed from the inside is always a dark, digestive mess, far different from the easily recognizable cow viewed from afar by historians.

I know what you are talking about. Just the other night i was walking home and when i turned the corner to go into my street, there he was. This....... man? Mumbling to himself and making strange gestures. He looked weird..just weird. Kinda dark and ....yeah.....silvery. I quickly walked past and went into my house. After making sure all doors and windows were secure got out the survival kit sat down and started to......paint.

Was the nozzle clogged and did you exert pressure on the bottle to get some paint out of it per chance?  ::)

Yup.

As penance, I'm repainting one of the ruined models this afternoon. Its like pulling teeth.

Happened to me with a bottle of cork brown once. Thankfully I was able to clean up anything that mattered (including myself) though I still have a few items here with beige spots over 'em.

Vallejo droppers more efficient my backside grumble grumble.

IIRC I got green on my desk, pants and t-shirt. the miniature was spared.
I now use painting clothes. Old tees and surplus (printed) sweaters I procured from a friend AND I got wire at hand to pierce clogged nozzles  :D

It was the act of painting that turned some of my decent clothes into 'painting clothes and old tees'.  lol

Feel sorry for you.  I still have green paint on a chair from my sons first attempt at painting.

He had seen me shake a bottle up (well you can guess the rest)...

Hope the vent helped.

I once had the worst painting accident ever.

Hit a pot of chestnut ink, you know the old screw tops from gw. A new one to boot so completely full. Everything got out, and i quickly grabbed some tissue in the kitchen, came back to the table and cleaned it off.

Went into town about a half hour later.

In the evening i undressed at home and noticed a BIG stain of the ink on my pants, looked like i had sharted   o_o o_o o_o :o

Apparantly upon inspection the ink had run on the chair, and being a brown one, i failed to spot it  ;D

You can guess i was not ammused at all   :`

We've all done it. Never squeeze a Vallejo bottle to force the paint out. Always poke a wire spear into the nozzle to clear the blockage. I've had several splojuns from squeezings  ;)

I once dropped my paintbrush which had wet paint on it... Squated down to pick it up...  Doh!  Was wearing spurs!!  owowowow!  (Kidding:)). But I did blow up a new bottle of copper a few weeks ago.  Same kind of sploshun you speak of.  Wiped it off walls and table etc... Wiped off a blob on the pale tan couch.  It turned green the next day!  (Not kidding!)
