Space: 1889 Solar Boiler Suggestions?
« on: May 22, 2014, 10:15:07 PM »
Hey LAF,

Can anyone suggest a suitable source of Space: 1889 style 'Solar Boilers'?

I'm intent on converting some Brigade Models Aeronef models, so 1/2" to 1" in size would be ideal.

I'm thinking some kind of small scale radar dish?

Any ideas?

MM.

As much as I'm loth to say it as I would prefer to make them you could visit a haberdashers and get some suitable looking beads and bits that would be at the right 'scale'.

I've seen something like it in a small torch.

I usually have one or two broken sitting in an household bits drawer...

By the way, which of Brigade's? I'm not thinking of any on which this would fit.

Brill if you do!

Doug

Edit: I once thought about doing something similar with a steamer insert on a much larger model; envisioned mechanically deploying a mirror!

Edit, part deux: The 'larger model' being a Star Wars Action Fleet Desert Skiff, of which the DoY bow bares some resemblance...
