I used to paint miniatures when I had plenty of time and no money, how times have changed. Now I have plenty of money to burn on hobbies, but no time. Anyway, after reading up and gaining some appreciated advice from someone on this very forum, I bought into the Foundry Paining System and splurged on their large set and expansion set. While I was waiting for those to arrive, I picked up about six shades of grey (Vallejo) from my FLGS and got started on the project which inspired me to pick up painting again: classic horror movie, black & white zombies. Think Night of the Living Dead.

I based the models with black spray paint, and then worked my way down from dark to light, ending in a touch of off white on most model's skulls. When the Foundry sets arrived, I also painted some survivors. This is my progress, critique is welcome.

PS: I haven't decided on what to do with the bases yet, so they remain black for now.

this was my first batch, I was relatively happy.

first fattie, he's much to gray and lacks contrast.

I tried to get more contrast out of my second batch

That's right, Survivors

Fatties, painting progress from left to right. Quite happy with the black fattie.

Attempted runners as the third batch

Have I seen these elsewhere? Could have sworn someone's did something similar with their zombies before.

This take is more interesting than painting up the zombies in the regular manner. ...Hopefully its easier too (people have been receiving a silly number of the things from their Kickstarter pledges). Are you painting the occasional blood splatter (from a survivor presumably, zombie blood's black of course) in red? It would work as a decent contrast against all that monotone (barring the existing survivors obviously)? Kind of Sin City/300 like.

A while ago, I posted pictures of my first batch on r/minipainting here: http://redd.it/218jl2

I'm saving the red blood splatter for the berserker zombies in Season 2, just like I'll paint the toxic zombies with added green bile. The zombies pictured above are 'regular' zombies. I did paint one with blood on it to see how it looks.

Great stuff! There was a NotLD Convention board posted here a while back all in Black and White that was fantastic. You've done a great job with those Zeds!
