The vampire does seem cartoonish compared to the other figures.  But beautifully painted.  Your work is just wonderful Mate.

Yeah he's for sure cartoonish. I use Warbands and other similar stuff to experiment and try to grow as a painter, and with him I was going for the GW style. The skeletons and lich are the most recent stuff from these pictures.

How do the Otherworld skeletons scale with the Red Box Games minis?

They're about right as far as height. They have the GW style exaggerated proportions so the heads/feet/etc are a bit bigger than the more realistic proportions on the Red Box stuff.

Lovely paints!

I've been thinking for a while about using Mordheim rules for my buckets of old Confrontation figures I'd love to play with. This is great inspiration!

Are you using  custom warband rules for them?

First time we played, we used just some house-rules on top the base game. We're gearing up to play another campaign and we're using home-brew rules that use IKRPG as their base.

This warband is ostensibly a Blood Dragon Knights warband, but I will probably end up shoe-horning zombies into the warband rules too, since I have some sweet Red Box zombies I want to use. :)

Great painting and lovely photography as well.

What's next in the pipeline besides the zombies?

I got to paint a Thrall or Two, and finish up my fellhounds. Then I'm set unless I decide to get a Hired Sword.

Finished some zombies! These are full sized images, but the forum is shrinking them to fit. Either open em in new tab or go to Imgur link.

I speed painted these, and am super happy with how they turned out. Here's a step by step:

  • Airbrush zenithally, starting with almost black brown, followed by pale brown, and finally pure white.
  • Airbrush nice satin varnish.
  • Wash zombie skin with Athonian Camoshade. 2nd coat Athonion Camoshade.
  • Wash clothes different colors. Gryphonne Sepia, Agrax Earthshade, Carroburg Crimson, Reikland Fleshshade and Leviathan Purple were all used. Sometimes Sepia, Fleshshade and Earthshade were applied in pairs to tune the hue.
  • Spot wash deepest shadows on zombie flesh with Leviathan purple
  • Spot wash some Gryphonne Sepia in some zombie flesh mid-tones, just for color variation.
  • Pick out ropes and teeth with bone color.
  • Wash teeth with Fleshshade, rope with Sepia.
  • Wash rocks with Earthshade, and randomly mottled on all the colors of the rainbow, just for color modulation.
  • Super dark brown oil wash, with black in the center of the base, cause I wanted to darken it up. Oil cleaned up with makeup sponge.
  • Tamiya x-27 Clear Red mixed with black and dabbed on for dry blood.
  • Multiple coats of Future Floor Wax, followed by Future mixed with Liquitex Satin Varnish (Liquitex Satin is waaay too matte by itself).
  • Fresh blood applied straight over and around the dried blood.
  • Grass Tufts.

Not counting glueing rocks to the base and prepping the minis, I think perhaps ~4 hours of painting, start to finish. Really happy with this technique, and plan to continue developing it for future projects.

Wow, great job on those OW skellies! You did a much better job than me  lol
And the speed painting technique on those zombies sure is effective.
The best thing about warbands is that you can mix and match figures from different manufacturers and still make them fit together. This is much harder to do with unit based games.
